* Empowerment through Nutrition Education *

Nutrition Philosophy:

Our bodies have an innate ability to ask for and receive what we need.

Our body's judgements of what we need can be thrown off due to a
number of confusing messages we are given each day.  In this way, there
has been a disconnect between nature and our bodies.

It is my goal with each client to encourage you to become more aware of
the ways in which these messages affect your body.  By educating
yourself about nutrition, you can empower yourself into health.
Areas of Expertise:

I work with all areas of nutrition education and empowerment, as well as maintaining
specific focus in using a whole foods nutrition approach, addressing food reactions
(allergies & sensitivities) and empowering individuals struggling with disordered eating.

Whole Foods
Whole foods nutrition emphasizes choosing foods in a form close to the foods' natural
state.  Although it is not always possible to choose a food in its most natural state, this
perspective can allow you to choose foods with nature in mind.

When using this focus, try to trace your foods back to where they originated...did that
food grow somewhere, was it treated humanely, how many steps did that food go
through before you served your plate?

Disordered Eating
Disordered eating may be exhibited in different ways for many individuals.  Chronic
dieting, tendencies to overeat, denying yourself foods that you enjoy, or feeling guilty
with your food choices could all be considered forms of disordered eating.

Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Compulsive Overeating/Binge Eating, and variations
of each of these are diagnostic eating disorders.  Orthorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder
referring to an additional element of food obsession, which you can read more about
here.  Working with individuals struggling with these disorders is one of my strongest
passions in this field.   If you feel that you may have an eating disorder, ask for help to
empower yourself in recovery.
